The most useful cleaning routine starts with one question: which surfaces and cleaning system does this oven actually have? Miele uses different finishes and programmes across its cooking appliances, and they need different care.

Read the cleaning and maintenance section for the full model number before choosing a product or starting a programme. That also tells you which trays, runners, racks and other accessories need to come out.

SystemWhat it meansWhat to check
PerfectCleanA surface finish designed to make manual cleaning easier. The instructions for the particular coated surface or accessory.
Pyrolytic cleaningA high-temperature programme on supported ovens that turns residue into ash.Preparation, programme selection and which accessories are PyroFit approved.
HydroCleanAn automatic cleaning system on selected combination steam ovens. The specified cleaner, preparation steps and the correct place to add it.

A model may have different finishes on different parts. An accessory with PerfectClean and an oven cavity with pyrolytic cleaning do not necessarily share the same care instructions.

The DGC 7660 HC Pro is one example with HydroClean. That feature is not present on every DGC or steam oven, so the appliance family name alone is not enough to choose a routine.

Make the small jobs part of dinner

Once the appliance has cooled as required by its manual, remove loose debris and deal with everyday marks using the recommended method. A quick look at the cavity and accessories after use also helps you notice a spill before the next cooking session.

For the exterior and glass, use the material-specific care instructions. Miele's cleaning advice recommends soft cleaning tools and cautions against abrasive treatment. Do not use a scraper, strong chemical or oven spray just because it worked on a previous appliance.

Prepare a small care kit with the cloths and products approved for your oven. Keep their instructions available. It is easier to choose the correct method when the bottle and the appliance manual are together.

PerfectClean: easy-care does not mean no care

PerfectClean is a finish that helps reduce sticking and makes suitable surfaces easier to clean. Miele describes cleaning compatible surfaces with water, a little washing-up liquid and a suitable sponge. Check the instructions for the specific part before starting.

Rinse and finish the surface as its care instructions direct, and do not leave cleaning residue behind. More aggressive scrubbing is not automatically more effective; protecting the finish is part of the cleaning job.

Trays, racks and the oven interior can have different requirements. Follow the instructions for each item rather than soaking everything together or putting every accessory in the dishwasher.

Pyrolytic cleaning: prepare first, wipe after cooling

On a pyrolytic model, follow the preparation checklist and select the cleaning level described in the operating instructions. Miele distinguishes PyroFit accessories that may remain in compatible ovens from other accessories that must be removed.

Do not assume a tray, telescopic runner or rack is approved simply because it came with the oven. Check the accessory and model instructions together, and remove any other items the manual specifies.

After the programme, wait for the oven to cool and follow the directions for removing the ash. Keep children and others away from hot surfaces throughout the process. The cleaning programme handles residue; you still handle preparation and the final wipe.

HydroClean: let the display guide the process

HydroClean on a supported combination steam oven uses a dedicated cleaning programme and the specified HydroCleaner. Follow the display and the operating instructions for preparing the cavity, removing accessories and adding cleaner.

The location for cleaner matters. Do not improvise by pouring it into a water container or another opening. Use only the specified product and the place identified for your exact model.

Complete the prompts and the finishing steps before returning the oven to cooking. Descaling and other maintenance messages are separate tasks; deal with them using the relevant programme and instructions.

A routine that is easy to keep

  1. Identify the appliance and the surfaces you are cleaning.
  2. Wait for the required cooling period, then prepare the cavity and accessories.
  3. Use the recommended manual method or the correct cleaning programme.
  4. Complete rinsing, drying or ash removal as directed, and refit accessories correctly.
  5. Keep the manual handy for larger spills, stubborn deposits and maintenance prompts.
